Senior Joslyn Blanks has won a Silver Key in the 2022 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the most prestigious writing competition for high school students in the United States.  She is the only student in CV history to be recognized at the Silver level. Congratulations Joslyn!

The E Sports team meets today after school.  We will be finalizing teams and going over information for the pre-season games that begin on Monday, January 30.  Please try to attend the meeting in the main building media center.  If you cannot make this meeting, please get in touch with Mrs. Goosen or Mrs. Paterson for the important information.   It is also important that you join the team Discord for updates.

  Apparently there has been some confusion about where your lunch period is displayed on your schedule. Look at the room number of your fourth hour class. Next to that number you will see an A, B, or C. That is your lunch period.

For the next few weeks we are going to bring you announcements in a few different ways at a few different times. You will hear PA announcements on Monday and Thursday to start the day. On Tuesday and Friday, video announcements will be shown during second hour, and on Wednesdays written announcements will be read or posted during third hour. The pledge will be said during the hour of announcements. Announcements will also continue to be posted daily to Mr. D's 2022-2023 All Students Group in Schoology, and sent to parents through SchoolMessenger and posted on the website.

Argumentative Writing Club is cancelled today

Exams begin today and you will attend 1st and 2nd hours, 3 and 4 tomorrow and 5 and 6 on Friday. If you take a shuttle to Dakota for hours 1, 3, and 5, your shuttle will leave from the F Lot (that's the Bus Lot) at 7:05 each day. So make sure that you are in the correct location and on time. Dismissal is at 10:33am. Also, all students, laptops will be used for exams. Make sure they are fully charged.

Our choir program hosted District Solo and Ensemble this weekend! Volunteers from the choirs and NHS did a great job running the event. We had 37 events participate and 35 of those earned a high enough score to make it to states! The two events that did not get selected were only 1 point away from making it to states! There were also 6 events that earned PERFECT scores!

Writers’ Club is hosting Rock the Mic, an open mic night, tonight at 6pm in the cafeteria.

Seniors, did you know that you get more money the sooner you apply for financial aid? Fill out your FAFSA today. Go to FAFSA.gov.  Tomorrow, will be selecting a winner from the list of students who have completed FAFSA. Sign up to see your counselor if you have questions.

The Class of 2023 Senior All Night Party will be held on Thursday, May 25th from 9pm until 4am @ CVHS.  Tickets are on sale now.  For one week only, the price will be $50, which includes a t-shirt.  After January 15th, the price will increase. 

The MISD offers some SAT prep opportunities. Remaining dates are February 7, March 11, and March 18.

The Boys Swim and Dive Team has won their last two meets.  One last Thursday against Stevenson High School and on December 20th against L'anse Creuse. Congratulations!

Congratulations to the members of our Ice Hockey team for defeating Eisenhower on Saturday 3-1.  Their next home game is Monday, January 16th at 5:00 pm vs. Clarkston at Mt. Clemens Ice Arena.

Today is a Pride Day. The theme for January is Dedicated. Being dedicated means always giving your best effort, and being committed to doing your best on classwork, teams, and clubs. Remember, "With hard work and dedication, anything is possible.” Timothy Weah

As part of Pride Day, please take some time between now and Friday, January 13 to fill out a Form to recognize a CVHS staff member for showing Big Red Pride. The link to the form is on the announcements in Schoology. It has also been emailed to you. And can be found on QR codes around the school.

Chippewa competed at the DECA District Conference at Lake Orion High School this weekend and did great! We had 16 compete, & 7 overall winners: 

Anthony Barron, Evan Dedishew, Olivia Kovalcik, Daniel Wasmund, Grace Kline , Tyler Murray , and Nayla Nahdee-Arnett. Congratulations to our District Champs! Good Luck at the State Conference.

Congratulations also to our varsity boys basketball team who beat Dakota on Friday night in an exciting game. Final score: 48-47. Go Big Reds!

To fashion show participants: The committee sent an email to the parents and found out that the email more than likely is ending up in the junk folder of many. So please have your parents look for it.

The After School Gamers Club is starting an ESPORTS TEAM.  If you are interested in joining, please come to the informational meeting after school today in the main building Media Center. 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have a meeting next Wednesday at 6:30am in room 226.

Writers' Club is hosting Rock the Mic, an open mic night, on January 12th at 6pm in the Cafeteria. Anyone interested in performing should see Mrs. Martin in room 110 to sign-up. 

The winner of the gift card this week for completing their FAFSA is Kaelin Shaw. Seniors continue to work on your FAFSAs and submit them ASAP. Another name will be selected next week.

Attention all athletes who signed up for the Varsity Senior Fashion Show, please check your email. The email includes information on athlete profiles, ticket purchases, program ads, and requests for parent participation.

Tonight, the Boys Varsity Basketball team will be hosting a Coaches vs. Cancer basketball game against Dakota. Please come support the basketball team and a great cause. Wear purple to the game.

The Chippewa Valley United Hockey team has two upcoming games this weekend: tonight at 7:00 pm at Mt. Clemens Ice Arena and tomorrow at 8:20 pm at Mt. Clemens Ice Arena.

College Signing Day is Wednesday, February 1st. If you are planning on playing a sport at the college level, please stop in the Athletic Office and let Dr. Schihl know.

Attention Seniors: We are going to resume weekly drawings for students who have completed their FAFSAs which is the required form in order to get financial aid at the college. There is more money available the sooner you apply. So go to FAFSA.gov and submit your FAFSA ASAP.

There is a mandatory meeting during 2nd hour today in room 236 for all new CTE Internship students who will be joining the program 2nd semester.

The Macomb Student Diversity Summit 2023 will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 8:00 am – 1:30 pm at the Macomb Intermediate School District. Each high school in the county is able to send 10 representatives. Please email me or message me in Schoology if you would be interested in attending.

The After School Gamers Club is starting an ESPORTS TEAM and we need players!  Come to the informational meeting after school on Friday, January 6  during Gamers Club in the main building Media Center.  We will discuss forming a team, games and fees involved.  The competition begins in February.  The Gamers Club meets every Friday after school until 4:30.  If you are interested in playing but you can't make this meeting, please contact Ms. Goosen or Ms. Paterson via Schoology or email for the information.

It's everyone's responsibility to help keep our building secure. This means not opening outside doors for anyone. All visitors should enter through the A doors. It also means never propping outside doors open with rocks, sticks, or other items. Keep all doors locked and secured at all times.

Happy New Year! Welcome back!

Our Rowdy Red Zone was voted the Best Student Section in the East Coast Region. We are now in the final 6 in the whole country. Voting ends tonight at 11:59 PM.
