Attention seniors: A counselor will be in the Media Center Café during 2nd and 3rd hour today to help you with college applications and to help you get started with FAFSA.  This is the last Thursday for this drop in assistance before scheduling starts so take advantage of this opportunity if you need help. This form is required for financial aid. Bring your laptop and social security number.  Come with a pass from your teacher.

Tomorrow is a ½ day of school with a speed schedule.  Shuttles will run for 2 hour blocks only.  All students with a one hour class at Dakota should report to the Media Center during that time. Dismissal will be at 10:28am.

The E Sports SMASH team won their first regular season match against Pinconning High School.  It was an intense competition, but they came out with a sweep, winning 3-0.  Their next match is today where they will take on another high school somewhere in Michigan.  Way to go Smash!

 Congratulations to the boys bowling team for qualifying for the team state championship. They will be competing this Friday at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park.

Congratulations to Mattheos Mitropetros & Julia Snyder for qualifying for individual state wrestling championships.  They will be competing this Friday at Ford Field.

The Student Impact Team has planned a hallway mural and now all students are invited to participate. We need painters at the following times: This Friday after school and next Wednesday at 9:00, 12:00, and 3:00. Each session is expected to last about an hour. Email or message Mr. D if you would like to participate in the project.

Today is a half day of school, with dismissal at 10:10.  You will attend hours 1, 2 and 3.  There will be no Dakota shuttles. Students who have classes at Dakota should report to the Media Center.

  Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, so let's recognize and thank our Clinton Township Police liaison officer, Detective Dave Decker.

Relay for Life of Clinton Township and SE Macomb County is hosting the annual Festival of Pizza event tonight from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the cafeteria at Chippewa Valley High School.

Consider joining the Film Club. They are looking for new and returning members. No prior experience is necessary. They meet every other Friday after school in Room 114 in the Main Building. The next meeting is on February 9th after school.

February is Black History Month. Check out the showcase created by the Black Student Union which pays tribute to some important figures in our history. Also, stop by the media center to see their Black History Month display, and check out a book.

Today is a Big Red PRIDE Day with a focus on the E in pride, which stands for Engaged. To be engaged you need to be present, physically and mentally, and do your best.

This week is Counselor Appreciation Week. Be sure to thank your counselor for all they do.

I'd like to welcome our new head custodian, Mr. Rance Rivers, who officially takes over that position today.
