Today, October 6, we celebrate the first German immigrants who came to America in 1683 and all the ways German-Americans have contributed to our country. For example, what’s the one thing almost everyone is wearing right now? Jeans. Yup — your favorite pair of blue jeans exists because of German-American Levi Strauss. So next time you pull on those skinnies or baggies, thank a German-American! Whether or not you have German roots, it’s a great day to celebrate the many cultures that make our community special! Be sure to check out the showcase by the gym that the National German Honor Society put together to celebrate German-American Heritage Month.

The Media Center will be closed for all lunches today. Also, we are having a lot of students trying to go to the media center during lunch time without a pass. You must stop by the media center before lunch to get a media center pass. Otherwise the hall monitor will stop you and direct you back to the lunch room.
Yesterday I was struck by two totally opposite situations. One, so many students looked so great in their professional dress. It created a very positive vibe in the hallways. But on the other hand, while this is happening, we are still having a few students deciding to intentionally make a mess of our bathrooms. Let's be better than that. And one other important message - for those who cross 19 Mile Road - please, please, please use the crosswalk so that you don't get hit by a car.
