To enroll a student in school, you MUST be the parent listed on student’s birth certificate OR you MUST be the student’s legal guardian with official court documentation.

For families without internet access or access to an electronic device, we will offer enrollment kiosks in our Central Registration Office. Schools of Choice
Schools of Choice for the 2026-2027 school year is open! The window will be open from Monday, March 2, 2026 through Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Moving Out of the District?
If you are a parent and have moved out of the district and plan to remove your student from Chippewa Valley Schools, please fill out and submit the appropriate grade-level Exit Form.
In-District Transfer
Chippewa Valley School families may apply for an In-District Transfer if they meet the following criteria:
- Can supply documentation that the request is mandated by a Court of Law.
- Can supply documentation that the request is required for a documented and necessary medical condition confirmed by a physician and that the home school cannot offer the same supports as another school.
If a student meets the above criteria, the district will have to confirm there is appropriate programming, staff and space available at each school to allow for an approval.
Each child in a family must have an in-district transfer form filed individually. Should you be granted the transfer, you must be able to provide transportation to and from school for your student. There will be no transportation provided.

Enrollment procedures vary from elementary to high school. Please review the Criteria for Enrollment below, which will explain the requirements to complete your child's registration.
Immunizations
Kindergarten Enrollment
Each of our elementary schools offer a comprehensive full day Kindergarten program that focuses on reading, writing, math, science and social studies. In addition to our hands-on interactive classrooms, our students experience a variety of specials programs including music, physical education, and art. Our highly qualified teachers offer a nurturing environment and are committed to partnering with you to prepare your child for their academic career.
Kindergarten Requirements have Changed
According to Michigan Law, (MCL 380.1147), if a child residing in Chippewa Valley Schools is not five years of age on September 1,2026 but will be five years of age no later than December 1, 2026 the parent or legal guardian of that child may enroll the child in kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year if the parent or legal guardian notifies the school district in writing that he or she intends to enroll the child in kindergarten.
If your child was born between the dates listed above, and you would like to enroll them in the district, a form will be provided at registration.

Preschool Enrollment
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Preschool
Chippewa Valley Schools will be hosting GSRP Preschool Programs at multiple locations. All buildings that will be hosting have not been finalized yet for the upcoming school year.
The Little Turtle Early Childhood Center is a parent-pay/tuition-based program. Registration for the fall is held during the month of March - space is limited and the program fills up quickly. To learn more about the many options available to parents for their children, please visit
Preschool Enrollment Criteria
- Your child must turn 4 years of age by September 1, 2026, to participate. Students cannot be five (5).
- Parents MAY NOT SELECT/REQUEST their location. Classes are built using the guidelines established by the State of Michigan.
